More About the Author

Short version: Jason Halstead is a science fiction and fantasy author who spends his free time with his wife and two children, writing, and powerlifting.

Long version: Jason's always wanted to write, but making a living at it seemed unobtainable. So instead of writing fiction, he turned to writing code. That paid the rent and let him dabble in fiction.

The common theme shared by almost every great writer is perseverance. Refusing to accept denial by traditional publishing and agents, Jason was finally accepted at a publisher that was harnessing the cresting wave of ebooks. That ride, although bumpy, gave him the experience and knowledge necessary to strike out and improve his craft.

Jason now has multiple books out and regularly helps out other budding authors struggling to makes sense of the industry. He's a stickler on editing and professionalism, but also believes wholeheartedly that his readers aren't just customers, they're his friends. He wants to know them and encourages them to visit his website (http://www.booksbyjason.com), his blog (http://booksbyjason.wordpress.com), and even more to email him (jason@booksbyjason.com) so he can interact with them. His books come from his imagination and from his heart, and more than one of his friends has inspired him and shown up for at least a cameo appearance in one of his titles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Marketing Ploy 27 April 2012
By William Bonelli - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have observed this trend to sell ebooks in partial 40 or 50 page segments at $.99 it is really annoying and I will not buy one again. Price the entire book and let me choose to buy it - - this bait and switch tactic is more than phoney. This tactic now joins the ebook priced the same as the paperback so B&N can stay in business as the two worst marketing ideas of the year.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too short! 10 May 2012
By Bill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I agree with a previous reviewer. Please stop making these 40 page books! I refuse to waste my time with any books less than 200 pages! If you combine all the "books" in this series into one, and price it at $4 or $5, I would buy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars enjoyed the book but... 25 May 2012

I really enjoyed this book but there wasn't enough lenth to it to really develop the characters. It should have been a full length book instead we are cheated by one you can read in less than an hour. I'm going to continue with the series just because I like the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another well written story but a bit short 6 Feb 2012
By Sparta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed reading the second book in this series as much as the first one. The high rating reflects my desire to express to the author my enjoyment of the plot and writing style. However, the overall book is about half the length of a ebook that makes me happy. The plot is solid, a very nice follow through on the first book. It is more like a short story and I generally do not read short stories. I bought this one on the author's writing skill. Sure the price is more than reasonable but I would rather pay $2.99 for a book three times as long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent story 23 Jun 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I would probably give the book four stars if he did a better job editing (especially since he states on his bio page that "He's a stickler on editing", which is blatantly false), and made the books longer (or combined multiple books).
