This collection is an anthology of his work from "The Spectator", "The Times, "The Sunday Times", other periodicals and some previously unpublished works.
Regular readers of these columns or readers familiar with his other books (I have most of them) will recognise the literary critical landscape in the titles, e.g. Wyndham Lewis, Lawrence by Leavis, Auden, 'Gaudate' by Ted Hughes, Charles Dickens, Hogarth and so on for 450 pages.
It is a very comprehensive collection of his critical works and well worth the current modest investment.
