Pull up a stool, order your cocktail and turn to the stage to watch Mr Kaempfert and his orchestra work their magic on you. This is the picture I get in my mind from this gorgeous collection of the music of one of the worlds finest.
Kaempfert was a melody craftsman of the highest calibre and his beautiful blending of brass, percussion and human voice are truly delightful.
This album kicks off with perhaps his most well known tune "Swingin Safari" and I defy you not to be totally uplifted by it.
Anyone who is revelling in the current rise in easy listening and lounge sounds needs to have Mr Kaempferts music in their life.
Gents get that white tux and cufflinks on and ladies your evening dress and come on over to Berts place!

If you like top-notch easy listening orchestral music, with solo contributions from trumpet/flugelhorn, and a deep, rich sound to bring out the best in your hi-fi then this is an excellent album to choose.
It is not exactly a "Best of..." or "Greatest Hits" but it does include one of Kaempfert's best known original tunes, "A Swingin' Safari" and several other well known popular melodies, along with ten other original compostions which, while less well known, are undeniably melodic and easy on the ear without being aural wallpaper.
The musicianship and sound production are excellent throughout; the collection is culled from recordings made in the early 60s and the early 70s, but you cannot tell the difference between the two vintages, and they sound a lot better than some much more recent efforts by other artists.

It is not the most comprehensive collection of the Kaemphert Orchestra's repertoire with only a few of the best known works included amongst a selection of less familiar tunes.

Simply good "old fashion" honest music. Nothing fancy or "way out", just relaxing. I bought this on a recommendation from somebody else on line and I'm glad I did. They don't make 'em like that anymore.......! Enjoy.

I remember listening to this on Vinyl as a lad, back in the early 70's, when my Dad was setting up his Hi-Fi. Even then it sounded good. Swinging Safari being well used in the media. So as a burst of nostalgia I thought I would buy the CD and listen to what it sounded like without any of the Vinyl artefacts. I was not disappointed. The production and audio quality is fantastic. This was made before digital audio and non linear editing was even a glint in the eye. The only Pro Tools around then was craftsmanship and musicianship. If you are interested in Music arranging / production this would be a great disc to study. Go on create something as good with today's technology. The strings, bass guitar, use of percussion and vocals. I could go on and on... As well as all that it has some great tunes. Hats off to all those involved in making this, something to aspire to as a musician and producer or just listen to.
