Product Description

Product Description

This work contains almost everything written by Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, his inspired compositions, and a number of translations from ancient Advaitic texts, representing the essence of his teachings. They fall into two categories-those which exemplify the path of surrender through love and devotion to the Divine, and those which are more doctrinal. The first group included the Five Hymns to Sri Arunachala, of which the first poem, The Marital Garland of Letters, "is among the most profound and moving poems in any language" and expressses the attitude of the soul aspiring for union with God. Sri Bhagavan has affirmed that seekers who study these works are certain to attain the Bliss of Liberation.

The vedic literature which is voluminous contains descriptions of various methods to realise God. Good number of books came in to light describing the methods eunciated in these scriptures. But most of the methods underline the need to have a Guru(Teacher)from whom only the secrets of sadhana(efforts)can be obtained. But Here is a great Maharshi who gives you a direct most simple technique ro realise God /Self. Only those blessed by God only would be drwan to his teachings which can be condensed to one line.

There was a catastrophic fire the other year, news of which broke early Sunday morning leaving the superlative-spouting newscaster bereft for words. Having grown accustomed to talking-up banalities for damatic effect, when the biggest story of his life broke all he could say was, "There's quite a lot of smoke, isn't there, Penny?"

Having raved, over the years, about this and that tome I find I am like the guy in Spinal Tap at number 11. I have nowhere to go so I'll simply say this is quite a lot of book.

Indispensable 25 Oct 2001

When I read this book I was interested in the basic teachings and thought I would skip through the poetry. I surprised myself by being able to resonate with the sublime feelings and simple words of Maharshi`s. Much of the teachings do reach you through this seemingly exotic poems. Give them a chance too.

Who am I? 14 Sep 2000
By John C. Landon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The story of Ramana Maharsi is one of the great tales of the twentieth century, and the tale of one of India's great sages. This work gives a glimpse of the world of India at its best--and most mysterious. Worth comparing with J.G.Bennett's The Long Pilgrimmage, the tale of Shivapuri Baba, and Rajneesh's Glimpses of a Golden Childhood.
