I've recently bought a overlocker (serger) and want to get more proficient in sewing knit garments. I came across the Colette website / blog and have used some of the tips there in my work. Was very pleased to see that this book was coming out - if nothing else it is easier than trying to find room for an overlocker AND regular sewing machine AND laptop on my work table if I need to refer to the instructions for a technique!
It has some very helpful information about the construction of knit fabrics, and the different amounts of stretch from different fibres or construction - particularly useful if you don't have a local shop with a good selection of stretch fabrics you can touch. It is easy to find stretch fabric for sale online but daunting to buy something expensive if you aren't confident that it is going to behave in the way that is needed for the pattern.
Also has good explanations of how you might use more specialist supplies like woolly nylon / stretch thread, clear elastic, stabilising tape, washaway tape etc in garment construction. Again I find I can often only find things like this online and am not very confident in ordering them (due to expense / delivery time) if I don't know exactly how they will help me.
Already spotted a couple of very useful tips about things like troubleshooting overlocker tension (clearer than my machine's instruction book) and how to work corners with an overlocker (which I have consistently messed up!).
Helpful section on adjusting fit, which as the book states is more needed than you might think with knits because 1 fabric can behave very differently to another (more so than wovens).

A comprehensive guide to to sewing with knits with lots of useful information. Unfortunately it is let down by the quality of the pictures which are too small and don't clearly capture the point being illustrated.

The description doesn't make clear that this book is printed on demand by Amazon and the print quality in my copy is very poor. Many of the pictures are very small and lack contrast so it is hard to see the technique being demonstrated. I don't think the samples shown demonstrate the best workmanship either. On the plus side the written content is pretty good and covers the subject well. I would have returned my copy but it was a gift. If you can get past the 1980's styling the Singer Sewing Reference Library Sewing with Knits has just as good information and the images are much better.

Really handy book to have. It's in-depth but accessible and certainly beats having to refer to Google every time my overlocker gives me grief. The only reason I've not given it five stars is because the background on which the images are printed can sometimes make them difficult to interpret.
