Product Description

Chuckie Eechaute thought a new life under the Witness Protection Program would save him from Victor Sanaducci, but he was wrong. When Victor captured Chuckie's brother, Danny, he gave Chuckie an ultimatum: Come back and suffer the consequences of turning state's evidence, or Danny would die. A severed ear sent to Chuckie's old girlfriend sent the message home.

Chuckie had to go home.

So, he called Frank Powell, the one cop in Chicago he could trust.

For Frank Powell, Chuckie's return to the Windy City only complicated things. He was a detective on a case with a vicious killer the media called "The Slitter". But, the thought of bringing Victor Sanaducci to justice was too alluring. He had to figure out a way to catch the killer and bust Chicago's biggest drug kingpin.

Could he?

Little did he know that Chuckie Eechaute's return would set the two monsters on a collision part....and destruction and death would follow.

The Cold Minute is all I ask from a good Crime Thriller. Well-paced, plenty of twists, a good dollop of grisly violence, plenty of neuroses, psychoses and gangland swagger, and all chased down with a good, honest, troubled Cop desperate to crack the case.

Our Cop, Powell, struggles to outdo his Father's glorious memory, and is haunted by the random attacks of The Slitter, Chicago's latest serial killer. He also has to protect Chuckie, who returns from deep cover to save his Brother from the hands of the ruthless drug lord Sanaducci.

The full spectrum of the city's darker side is writ large here: The Slitter's malformed, abused soul that rages against all happiness and seeks only bloody revenge, against Sanaducci's sophisticated and calculating cruelty, with obligatory goons to carry out the dirty work.

Action, tension, moments of stark horror - this book has them all.

Interesting Crime Novel 18 Mar 2012
By Troy Blake - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have read a lot of crime and mystery novels, but this original story struck me as better than average and more memorable than some. The story is about a cop and his efforts to catch a serial killer while also helping someone from his past, all while dealing with his own personal drama and issues. The characters are well written and the evil villain is believable. An interesting read that I recommend.
Too many mistakes 1 Jun 2012

I tried to read this book but there were simply too many mistakes that kept pulling me out of the story. In the prologue the month of December was in lower case should have been capitalized.
Chapter one - in Chicago it's the El, not the L. EL for elevated. The FBI doesn't relocated witnesses, the Marshall's service does. When Chuckie/Eric spill coffee on his bed robe, I gave up. Sorry, I think this might be a good story but there were just too many mistakes.
