KINDLE BESTSELLER: THRILLER
--------------------------------------------------

Forget everything you think you know about the internet. If you think nefarious web sites peddling a cocktail of online scams, illegal pornography, racial hatred and vicious computer viruses was all you had to worry about - think again. The government has banned access to the internet and the world wide web, dubbing it an illegal, unregulated zone. Sounds good news doesn't it, until you know that its replacement controls every aspect of your life, from digital content, provision of your gas, water and electricity, and all your money. And with everything and everybody connected, we're all now potential targets if we oppose it.

Do you still feel safe?
Empowered?
Connected?

Welcome to the future of the internet. Welcome to the Codex file.

Michael Robertson’s family has been murdered to protect the covert government project linked to establishing a new internet. Piecing together what happened leads him to four computers hackers, vehemently opposed to the new network, who provide the only means to hunt down the killers. But uncovering the truth leads to industrial espionage and a plot that leads right to the heart of government as he seeks the truth behind the Codex file.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly brutal 26 Feb 2012
By KatW
Format:Kindle Edition
From the off, this book is brutal, fast-paced and intriguing. Articulate and brilliantly observed, the well-crafted language tells a story of the power hungry, the dispossessed and the differing interpretations of utopia. It is bleak and psychologically dark, and amply describes the lengths that ordinary people will go to under extraordinary circumstances. The author artfully includes enough backstory to make the characters seem real without losing the pace of the plot. He also balances technological and human/relationship elements to great effect. This quality of writing and story-telling is maintained throughout the book until the last word. It is a rollercoaster of a read that left me breathless and desperate for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're online, you're a target 12 April 2012

What would happen if the UK government stopped access to the worldwide web and replaced it with a highly moderated and specialised UK version ?

This is the starting point of this well written and researched book my Miles Etherton. From the first page to last the action is non stop , the possibilities explored would impact and change our online and real world lives forever.

The book as a whole is insightful and I for one hope that it never comes to pass. Freedom of speech should never be curtailed.

So if you want a good read then I heartily recommend The Codex File , just be prepared to be shocked .

It has also been the first time I have been able to make a real connection with an author on the REAL internet after contacting Miles on Goodreads .

5.0 out of 5 stars Brace yourself! 9 Feb 2012
By AliMcQ
Format:Kindle Edition
A great read! This book plays on some of your darkest fears and keeps you guessing right through to the end. It reminded me of how I felt watching 24 on dvd! Incredibly tense and wanting to know what's going to happen next. Maybe not the best bedtime reading if you want to get to sleep! The characters are really well drawn and the empathy you feel for them reinforces the winceing as things start to go badly wrong for them. Whether you are a computer whizz or a technophobe this thriller is accessible to all. Set in a future when the internet as we know it is about to be banned, the trail of conspiracy and evil goes to the highest level. Those with a taste for blood will not go disappointed and there are some scenes of real horror! The devastating conclusion leaves you wanting more and I won't spoil the end by hinting what happens to the evil Trevellion, a classic baddie!
