At last the three concerts complete, on a double-CD. We had of course already Berlin and London on one CD but this CD was incomplete (Fidgety Feet missing, in spite of the printed track listing).
Now Copenhagen was added and also Fidgety Feet (London).
However, the booklet is somewhat a mess. The Copenhagen cover is missing (Berlin cover doubled) and the track listing does not correspond with the actual situation on the CD's.
So, I contacted Fellside Recording and received the following comments:

Please accept our apologies for the problem. We are aware of the problem which has only just come to light. It is a complicated story. The track listing problem arose after the artwork had been done and it was decided to move two of the tracks. New artwork was sent to the factory, but they had printed some of the paper parts. They were not used. The cover image problem occurred when the original print files had become corrupted and we were asked to supply new booklet files. For some reason one of the images duplicated. The particular factory we used was bought by an American company which then closed it down. We had to transfer our manufacturing elsewhere. The old factory transferred any remaining paper parts. Unknown to us the only ones for LACD210D were the wrong ones. As we are about to delete LACD210D we asked them to press the quantity of paper parts available. We recently started using the new stock and discovered the problem. As we are not planning to reissue it in that form and we only have limited copies available it is not cost effective to reprint. The simplest thing we can do is withdraw the remaining copies.
If you are unhappy I can only suggest that you return the CD to us and we will refund your money.

So, we have a collectors item here!

I agree entirely with the previous reviewer in his praise of this CD. As a Barber fan from the band's beginning in the mid fifties, I bought almost every record they released (without listening first!) including the three concert LPs making up the CD. I bought mono versions, not owning stereo equipment at the time. They are given a new lease of life in clear digital stereo sound which is a great achievment by the engineers, given the relatively "primitive" recording conditions. My favourite (and I suspect most other people's) has to be the German concert especially when the original sleeve notes tell of the recording difficulties encountered!
The band, as always, was in superb form on all the tracks, but my favourite is "Gotta Travel On" which captures the bouncy, melodic and highly accomplished sound of 1959 with exciting solos from the front line. I think this is the only version of the tune Chris recorded, which is strange, given his many new recordings of band favourites.
Anyway, happy listening. It brings back memories of one's long-lost youth!!

Of all live recordings this one is up with the best (Berlin Deutschhalle, East Berlin, Nurnberg, Fairfiel Halls)- all concert locations on this 2 CD set find the pre "Jazz and Blues" line up at its liveliest with that springing forward momentum with which the Barber bands surpassed their UK trad contempories. The rapport with the audiences produces a driving excitement seldom matched on so many tracks.

Wonderful. My old vinyl's are very well played, and I still cherish hearing them, but the transcription quality on this CD is superb. The tone is "right-on", and the recording quality is wonderfully retained, true to the original, so that every track makes me feel as though I am once again at a glorious Chris Barber concert. Oh the memories! Not to be missed.
