Product Description

The Classic Chill Out Album Vol 2's predecessor is set to become the number one selling chill out collection of 2001 so the second instalment has much to live up to. Unfortunately I fear the chill out bubble has well and truly burst and this is just a last ditch attempt to milk the genre for as much as it's worth--cue the sound of barrels being scraped. A cursory glance at the tracklisting confirms my suspicions--Dido, Moby, William Orbit and Goldfrapp all make obligatory and uninspired appearances, although, to be honest, these are the high points. Wait until the dull jazz of Martin Taylor or Stan Getz snoozes by, Sade underwhelms you with the soporific "No Ordinary Love" or the realisation kicks in that you're listening to "Crocketts Theme" from Jan Hammer. Even worse, cringe to various bastardisations of real classical music, where Vivaldi, Holst and Beethoven are all given a New Age re rub with disastrous results. "Fur Elise" on a dodgy pub piano, anyone? --Paul Tierney

4.0 out of 5 stars the same but different! 12 Nov 2003
Format:Audio CD
This album has the same chill-out qualities that the original had but with a sometimes heavier beat. It has a lot of tracks that have what I would call "urban pulse"...you know the sort of thing, you could imagine walking through club-land to the well paced steady beat that forms the background to many of these tracks - Clubbed to Death is a classic example (Dido has the same feel). I defy you to stand (or sit, or lay) totally still when listening to this album. It is so soothing and relaxing, without being insipid, that I have used it to get to sleep after a stressful day on many an occasion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing Music ... 26 Dec 2002
Format:Audio CD
The Classic Chillout Album Vol.2 is quite simply, relaxing. The songs blend effortlessly into oneanother and keep the relaxation flowing. For those who wish to sit down with a steaming cup of coffee after a hard days work, or for those who need a little calm in there life, this is the perfect CD. I would also recommend "The Classic Chillout Album Vol.1" and "From Dusk Till Dawn".

5.0 out of 5 stars just a few tracks 17 Feb 2011
By Jackie
Format:Audio CD
I loved it even more than vol One. You cannot beat this type of cd when the tracks are so well balanced throughout. One can melt away from worries and woes in listening to a few tracks. Bonus if you can put on headphones! It doesnt matter if you do not know many of the artists either because it opens up knowledge of them. I have never considered "Moby" so may well have to look them up in the future. Stuck for a present for a stressed friend? look no further.

this is an album that HAS to be added to your collection. something to play after a stressfull day at work or just when you dont feel like hard core dance music. this album is definetly not something to play in a club but there are some very catchy tunes. As you listen to the album you will probably discover songs that you knew you loved but never bought because you didnt know the name or artist. It definatly is a great follow up to the equally fantastic "Classic Chillout" the original
