The first thing I will say about this book like all the others in the classic 1000 series is there are so many recipes to choose from, most cookbooks offer probably 20 or 30 recipes and you will probably only attempt cooking a handful of them as they are either too complicated or have to many ingredients that your local shop doesnt stock or any other reason but this book offers 1000 recipes, even if you only find 3% of this book useful you still have a months worth of dinners to add to your list.
Secondly, its value for money. In my collection I have the Vegetarian recipes, the chinese recipes, the quick & easy recipes, the Pasta & Rice recipes, the Calorie-counted recipes and the classic low-fat recipes. Thats 6 books/6000 recipes if I only use 3% of that i'll have dinner for half a year planned out.
But that isnt to say its only dinners it has to offer, you get an introduction to the book giving advice and cooking tips. Then you have sections for Soups, Starters, Main meals(veg based, tofu & quorn based, pulse based, rice based, pasta based etc...)Side dishes, salads, light bites, hot desserts, cold desserts, sauces, dressings, spreads, breads, biscuits, cakes, drinks and nibbles.
In a word, Amazing

I own a few cookery books in this series and once again have not been disappointed with "The Classic 1000 Vegetarian Recipes". The layout of the book is sensible. The recipes range from simple to gourmet and are easy to prepare with everyday ingredients. Value for money. Paperback with a "lay-flat binding." Well priced.

I bought this book to help out a friend whose husband suddenly turned vegetarian. I looked all over the bookshops to find something interesting and only came across the usual photographic delights - very pretty, but neither here nor there for the serious cook. I liked this book so much I decided to keep it and buy a second copy for my friend.
This book has, as it says, 1000 recipes, many of them new to me. I loved the no-nonsense style, the way the recipes are displayed, the general tone. If you're a real cook you'll love this book, whether you're a vegetarian or not.
