I have always been a sucker for cool heroes wearing deep shades of anti-hero till the last moment, and Riddick, is almost the archetype of that model. But the films in this set surprised me, because I really hadn't expected them to have such strong & solid plots, and robust characters. The first film has developed a cult-following, and deservedly so, despite working with the basic conceit of 'travellers-in-peril in a strange land', thanks to the solid portrayal from all concerned, and for Riddick. The second film was more of a wish-fulfillment fantasy (esp. during the scenes in Crematoria), but it would have been really intriguing to see what happens, once the names started rolling after showing "this dark army at the feet at of a lone outlaw"! Recommended as good entertainment.
