An excellent talking book version of C.S. Lewis' wonderful Narnia series of books, that i grew up with. I've had some of these tapes for years, if not all of them. The late and much-missed voice of Michael Hordern reads the stories perfectly, judging each character correctly, and reading the prose sensitively, entertaningly and subtly.
The music is excellent also, in my opinion; it instilled in me a love of the use of harp and flute in conjunction. The harp music wonderfully embellishes and creates the "timeless", melancholy undertones of Lewis' stories.
I'd particularly single out the music for The Last Battle as being sublime.
...this is a wonderful use of the talking book medium, for some splendid stories.

This set of tapes is totally ruined by the loud playing of harp music that drowns out the narator many times. It is really difficult to get into the story because you are straining to hear the words too much. The music is not even worth listening to anyway. I advise anyone wanting a decent audio version of these wonderful stories to go for the Cover to Cover version not this rubbish.
