Rockers Phi Life! 5 Nov 2002
Format:Audio CD
A good little EP this, with Phi Life Cypher rocking rhymes like only they can and some wicked lyrics from Task Force too. However, the production by Farma (of taskforce) is short of being stunning though Nappa (PL Cypher) is getting better and better on production taking it a step further on "Who's this?" and creating a genuine UK B-boy tune. Philly and Si-Life are definately the two most talented MC's in the UK and this is an EP that wets the appetite for a new full length outing, which, going by this should put them up above the likes of Mark B and Blade while maybe not touching the pure offbeat genius of Roots Manuva.

Rockaz phi- life! 24 Oct 2002
Format:Audio CD
Phi- life Cypher (pronounced "Fe Life" not Fi life!) and Task Force have been building themselves reputations for lyrical flows to rival anything from the US added to some decent topics too. Chronicaling everyday blues with a sharp sense of how the big picture's getting more and more twisted- twisting the lyrics up to suit the madness they perceive- and bringing it home to open ears.
While Chester and Farma (Taskforce MCs) chat pure wickedness their style and accents are so London that it might not appeal to everyone- though I personally love it- (we ain't talking cockney rapping though, for those who still think that's the only style of chat in London). It is Si Life and Philly who really come correct as ever with mesmerising flows of conscious, tough crispness.
Track two is the killer track that makes this really worth buying- the lyrics are tight on all four tracks but for me the production on Who's This? makes it a classic of the UK scene. Nappa's getting closer to perfecting the formula that created some gems on "Millenium Metaphors".
Not just for aficionados of the UK scene- this one should be spinning on the radio on both sides of the atlantic (though it probably won't). You know Skitz will be playing this one out on 1Xtra- Just waiting for full albums from both crews to drop as the production keeps getting better... If you like diversity in your hip-hop you gotta add these guys to the likes of Roots Manuva, Blak Twang, Rodney P and Lewis Parker- It's happening in England!

Chosen Few EP 8 Nov 2002
Format:Audio CD
Are you a fan of top production? are you a fan of top lyricsism? if not your obviously not into hip hop. Production coming from Task Forces very own Farma G who has produced many dope beats for the likes of task force to M.U.D Fam and Nappa Banging the beats out on behalf of the phi life squad, ''whos this'' produced by nappa has used the same sample as mobb deeps ''drop a gem on em'', but flipped the sample totaly different which shows the amazing talent of this man behind the boards. Combine these 2 teams togther and lyricaly they cant be touched, chester p combines scientific and urban poetry which is the forumlae for the best lyricism in hip hop and Farma G spitting 100% UK urban street hymns. Phi and Life proved their one of the best lyricists on the millenium metafors LP with amazin street politics and breaking down the state of the UK today. Anyways from tracks 1 through to 5 (plus 4 instrumentals) is some of the best tunes you will ever hear. The music covers all genres of hip hop, from uptempo to eerie hip hop. These guys are gifted, only bad thing i can say is that the e.p doesnt feature task force's newest member ransom badbones. BUY THIS NOW
