This is perhaps my most disliked translation of the Tao Te Ching so far. It is almost painfully difficult to read, with horrible needless commentary after every single verse. Since the translations are so bad, you can see why the commentary was needed, but the commentary itself is absoloutely awful, and incredibly difficult to read. The author uses far too many words that are long and difficult to understand. I'm not stupid, I know what the author is saying, but the author could have written the commentary much more colloquially. Instead the author makes the book a chore and an unpleasant read, having to sit through 222 pages of absoloute annoying needless rambling! Do not buy this copy of the Tao Te Ching. It's completely de-harmonious and irritating. Instead buy Jonathan Star's translation, which is very colloquial and easy to understand, without fancy commentary and pictures of roses on the front cover...
