I hope you are not put off this edition when I say it is simple. I have been flummoxed by overly-complex translations of the I-Ching. This open interpretation invites the reader to meet it "half way" - it has an excellent introduction and guidance on how to use the I-Ching.

The most beautiful things are often very simple and such is the case with this wonderful translation of the I-Ching. It is very easy to use but Browne-Walker consistently manages to capture the real essence of the I-Ching free from any subjective bias or 'interpretation' - any decent translation does not 'carry' the reader, rather it leaves them to traverse this space individually. The I-Ching's counsel is often profoundly challenging and this is reflected with a direct, no-holds-barred style.

I have owned this book for a few years now, as well as other translations which are more academic and often more obscure. I still use this version as it is so well laid out and accessible, especially if you are wanting a quick reading and interpretation.
The only thing that has perturbed me a little is the coin oracle information: the author assigns a value of 3 to the head and 2 to the tail of the coin, whereas my other versions assign 2 to the head and 3 to the tail. Not sure whether at the point of consultation the value makes a difference or not, as it is the intent of the moment to bring you something to work with, but it would be good to know for sure what the value is, I need a little bit of security in my consultations.
