Product Description

Product Description

The Chillout Session is the essential guide to the very best laidback classics featuring some of the most recognisable hits of 2012 to smooth house anthems. CD1 focuses on chart artists, all of whom have produced internationally acclaimed hits, including Gotye, Florence & The Machine, Lana Del Ray, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sande and Ben Howard. CD2 contains a collection of some of the greatest chilled house beats to date, from the likes of Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, Faithless, Roger Sanchez and Delerium, while CD3 immerses you in the super smooth, spaced-out sounds of Royksopp, William Orbit, Lemon Jelly, Zero 7 and Groove Armada.

I've been buying Ministry of Sound Chillout Albums for probably the last 10 years and have loved them for some time but the last 4-5 albums have shown a signficant increase in repeating tracks that have been on multiple previous releases and this album is no different.

Approximately 75% of the tracks on this album feature on previous releases! I understand that for customers who are new to the series then in fairness the CD presents a great list of tracks and is good value with 60 tracks but for repeat customers like me...well repeat is just that!

These albums are only released once a year - would it be that hard to put some unique tracks on them? Tracks that haven't appeared multiple times before? How many times have the following tracks featured on previous albums?

- American Dream - Jakaarta
- Electric Feel - MGMT
- Faithless - Drifting Away
- Poppiholla - Chicane
- Poor Leno - Royksopp
- Zero 7 - Destiny

The list goes on and on.

Like I say, great for those that are new to the series, but lazy and a signifcant lack of imagination by MOS for those that attempt to stay loyal and make repeat purchases.

As with many MOS releases - "the same songs you already have, in a different order".

A let down.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very flowing for chillout 14 Aug 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have to agree with the other review and to question the chillout? CD 1 starts off really slow and Lana del Rey finishes slow to the kick in and up beat sound of Emeli Sande heaven, now that is not chill out. I love Lana and Emeli but not in that order when I'm chilling. It is a mishmash of slow, fast and trying to be chill out songs so I would never call this a chill out CD, just a CD of music put in any old order. Even if they had ordered the songs from either fast to slow to get the rhythm flowing down to a chill or slow to fast so you start of chilled to up beat. Would not recommend. 2 stars as I do not hate the music, I would listen to all the songs on the CD, the CD is just not what it is marketed as or in tempo order.

2.0 out of 5 stars been here before 14 Sep 2012

I've bought a lot of these MoS discs for the car - heard most of these tracks before on previous ones and a lot of them are far from chilled!

3.0 out of 5 stars feeling the effects of global warming 14 Feb 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Sorry MOS but I can't help but feel we've been here before. There's not much in the way of new content here. Lots and lots of the classics in there that you've featured time after time on the other chillout sessions. And this time they're not even mixed. To be honest I don't personally think that disk 3 can even be considered 'chillout' at all it's more general house music. Such a shame, the early chillout sessions were so good, now it seems like you make another one whether you have the content or not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Chill out? 12 Aug 2012
By simon
Format:Audio CD
We are not sure if the is chill out or bad pop music. CD 2 is great, the kind of chill out lounge music we were expecting. CD1 is terrible, and CD 3 is slow to get going. Not sure I would have bought this. Pretty disapointed with the Ministry of Sound on this one!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 18 April 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
No chill out or relaxing music at all. Strange mix of tracks and too long a pause between each track.

2.0 out of 5 stars What's the point? 20 Oct 2012
Format:Audio CD
The previous MOS Chillout CD I bought was the 2008 CD - and I still play that one to this day. I thought that 4 years later, they would have come up with something as good. It was not to be. They were clearly trying to pad out 3 discs, and have used mediocre at best, at worst X-Factor-esque pop songs, and chillout tracks you will already have if you have even a modest collection of the genre. In fact when I first started listening to it (CDs #1 & #2 especially) I had to keep checking the cover to see if it actually said "chillout". In summary: "What's the point?".

1.0 out of 5 stars same old same OLD !! 30 Aug 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
just the same old tracks with a few newies added. This whole thing just sounds dated and tired. A few new tracks give it a lift but not enough to make it worth purchasing.
