More About the Author

Frances Housden writes Scottish Historical Romance. Stories from her homeland of legendary warriors and the strong heroines who love them.

Though she now lives in New Zealand while writing her latest book The Chieftain's Curse, Frances was able to dip into many memories of the Scottish History she learned as a little girl from her Grandfather. They often visited Dunfermline Abbey where Robert the Bruce is buried as well as Queen Margaret who became Saint Margaret. In her book she mentions the cave where Queen Margaret meditated, which is part of Frances's Childhood memories. She has visited the well where Mary Queen of Scots stopped to refresh herself while being taken to Loch Leven to be incarcerated on the island. Loch Leven was visible from the window of Frances's childhood home - she has ridden around the loch on her bike as a teenager.

So it's no wonder that after writing 6 contemporary romantic suspense novels, she would eventually turn her imagination and storytelling skills to romantic tales of the country where she was born, Scotland. It's a country that continually calls her home. Frances has travelled from one end of the globe to the other on numerous occasions to visit the land of her birth. She can claim the right to wear both the Buchanan and Wallace tartans as well as having Sinclair and Dalrymple bloodlines of which she is proud.

She loves to hear from readers so please visit her website at franceshousden.com or her Frances Housden, Facebook page

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth Reading 10 Mar 2013

The Chieftain's Curse is a really good novel for those of us who like Medieval Scottish tales. The Author's descriptions of the land, love and war are so descriptive the reader can lose themselves in the Scottish Highlands for the few hours that it takes to read. I found it hard to put down that I lost a night's sleep. Great Value at 49 pence.

This was not the sort of book I would normally read however I enjoyed the story, the characters were strong and believable, not sure if it was historically correct but nevertheless a very good read, it had a beginning, a middle and an end always good in my eyes.
