Book Description

22 May 2008

Everyone knows someone they would describe as “charismatic”. They always make a strong and lasting first impression, have an air of confidence and a true presence. They build good rapport with people, make an impact and are remembered. How do they do this? Is there something they know or do differently to the rest of us? What makes them this way?

People aren’t born with charisma, it is a learned skill. The Charisma Effect helps you to develop your interpersonal skills so you too can make an impact immediately.

Drawing lessons from a successful and long-running two-day personal development programme, this is a tried, tested and trusted formula that reveals everything you need to be charismatic.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great title, shame about the content 4 Feb 2009
By Alex
The book is a confused attempt to impart what charisma is. My guess is that the authors have simply assembled a bunch of material that they have gleaned from elsewhere (I'm sorry authors if that's not true - that's just my impression). I didn't feel that there was anything new or unexpected or even useful that I could use. Perhaps I'm not the right audience for the book as the previous reviewer seems to have loved the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing useful here 20 Aug 2009
This book has very little to offer.
It says 'Confidence' but what about those Shy celebrities like Beyonce and Jeniffer Aniston who have an 'air' of shyness about them, which seems to BE their Charisma!
It says articulation, this one I will not disagree with, the way you speak is much more important than the words you use, for the most part...Then there's a lot of rubbish about how many big words you know and so and so forth....

Here's the TRUTH about what Charisma REALLY is...CHILD-LIKENESS.

Charismatic people are like 'grown up children', Their outlook is one of awe, excitement, passion, joy, desire to explore and discover, enjoyment of meeting new people...What does this sound like...A CHILD?

To be more Charismatic, just stop taking life so seriously, so ADULT-LIKE. Be a little more open, playful, cute and fun....Be full of hope, excitement, optimism...What you see in Barack Obama....Is everything you not wish to be..but what you USED to be.

PS: There's no real science or research to back up the claims, either.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warning: This Book Needs Your Commitment 19 Feb 2011
This book is an excellent self help book. It helped me develop myself so that people listened to me more and now pay far more interest in my opinion. I had to spend a good few months to get this objective fulfilled.

I'm not suprised other reviewers give this bad marks because it takes a lot of time and effort to notice any change. However I can only say that to achieve the so called Charisma Effect you must spend time and practically go through each exercise until you see a change in your attitude.

Its a self help book people not a magic wand or secret code. The book asks you to experiment with your social interactions to be more self aware and to try a differant aproach.

I'm afraid its an old cliche but change in a person has to come from within.
If you DON'T TAKE ACTION, if you DON'T DEVOTE TIME TO CHANGE, guess what no book or video or class or course
will do anything for you.

Be true to yourself use this book as a tool to give you a positive attitude about yourself.
Pickup the book and with it decide on an end goal. Focus on that ojective and you'll see just how effective the charisma effect can be at work or with friends and family.

1.0 out of 5 stars The cover is the best bit 28 April 2010
By Boz
I admit that the title sounded intriguing. Charisma is one of those qualities that I think most of us would like to have more of. The content of the book failed to deliver though. I started reading the book but got bored by about page 30. I started to realise that the book wasn't imparting any useful information so I changed tactic and started flicking through the book instead. I wanted to find some nuggets of useful information but couldn't find much that didn't already echo what I already know.
