4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected................ 18 April 2011
By L. Hay VINE™ VOICE

The latest release from the WWE stable went way beyond previous offerings. This is largely due to a surprisingly good performance from Superstar, Paul "Triple H" Levesque. He gives a mostly convincing rendition of an ex-convict trying to be reconciled with his daughter and perhaps even his wife....So OK the plot is a bit limp, but the presence of "The Game" overides it and he carries it off with a combination of menace and the odd laugh. His daughter is played by Ariel Winter. I have no ideas how old she is but my personal opinion is that she did not quite pull it off. I can not really put a finger on why, perhaps she looked too young amongst the other students some of whom shone, but I did not find her particularly endearing. His wife was not very convincing either, rather flat and unstimulating. (After seven years in jail I should want something a little more inspiring than that pair to come home to). Who casts these movies?
The villains, the teachers, the bus driver, and the rest of the pupils shone. Add a bit of crazy driving and the odd bounce-up and you have a reasonably watchable movie.
The main thing which struck me was that the film is not quite the comedy I was expecting. It can be rather dark and serious in places. I do not know whether it is my own personal copy, but there was a rather bad edit at one point. However, overall I enjoyed it and will certainly watch it again. This is the second of two films made by Triple H. The first apparently had numerous problems and had to return to the cutting room. Let's hope it will appear in the not too distant future and we ahall see our star in a serious drama.

3.0 out of 5 stars One for the Kids 20 Aug 2011
By Jules TOP 500 REVIEWER

This is the second family orientated movie with a Wrestler in the lead i have seen recently, the other being Knucklehead with Paul "Big Show" Wight. Knucklehead was a smidge better than this imo, with a better cast on offer.

The Chaperone in question in this case is Ray Bradstone (Paul "Triple H" Levesque -Blade Trinity) as an ex-con just released from prison, who is dogged by his ex-partner in crime to get back in with them(come on Ray Ray he says), but he just wants to start fresh & get back in touch & rekindle his father/daughter relationship with Meredith (Ariel Winter -Modern Family) and just get her to respect him again. However now a moody teen (he only had pictures of here aged 5 or 6) she trys to blank him, and his ex-wife is not thrilled either when he truns up on their doorstep. He tires to get a job, as his ex-wife wants, but no one will seem to hire an ex-con, so he goes to his old partner & agrees to be the driver in a bank heist. Bad idea.

Overall i thought this film was enjoyable to watch on the whole. Triple H was decent in the acting stakes, he gives a Roddy Piper-esque charm to the movie. However Ariel Winter steals the show, she was head & shoulders the stand out performance of the bunch really. The story was alright, but had it's why did he do that ? & why doesnt he ? moments in it, that it just does things for the sake of moving the story along, regardless of it being nonsensical. It is mildly funny in places, although a bit predictable & frustrating in others for the reasons i just explained.

In Conclusion, The Chaperone is a Decent Kid's orientated movie, and you wouldnt be suprised to see it on t.v as a Sunday Afternoon movie. I cant fully Reccomend it, as it doesnt hit all the right notes for me. It's OK.

Brought this DVD for my dad on fathers day. he likes wrestling, and although this has no wrestling in it, it does have Triple H in it.
As far as i know, it is an OK film, but not brilliant (again through talking to my dad as not seem it)
