...For those of you unfamiliar with the author he excels at realistic thrillers usually based around shadowy networks of power and corruption, i.e. this bloke makes the X-files look tame when it comes to conspiracy theories.
There is more to his books than that though the pace is breakneck and the prose always addictive, this one particularly so, in fact I was forced to read this over the course of a week due to work and social commitments and I found myself getting withdrawal symptoms.
What singles this book out from his other tomes (check out the Bourne series its fantastic) is the plot twists, I love a good twist but I hate to be patronized, the twist has to be believable and plausible while at the same time a complete and utter shock. Not only does Ludlum manage this he manages to pack in twist after twist and they never lose their plausibility nor do they become contrived.
All in all if you want to spend a weekend totally blocking out the world or just need some random escapism, run the bath, light the candles, put on Miles Davis and read this book.
