Product Description

Product Description

When Keith Wilson, an art teacher at Grasmere Academy is murdered, DI Elizabeth Jewell expects to lead the investigation. Within hours, her new boss DCI Liam Yeats takes over and excludes both her and Sergeant Patterson from the case without giving a valid reason. However, Yeats's policy is short lived when he realises alienating Jewell and her team is counterproductive.
Jacob Morven, a Canadian citizen from a remote area of North-Western British Columbia is the prime suspect. Although the evidence against him points to his guilt, DI Jewell has doubts. Keith Wilson, the victim, had boasted of a change in his fortune, implying he was about to receive a substantial amount of money. With this in mind, Jewell looks further afield for other suspects. As the mystery deepens, Jewell and Patterson look back almost three hundred years to the origins of a lost artefact.
Amidst escalating dissent at Park Road HQ, Elizabeth tackles yet another problem. Where is her previous boss, DCS Daly and is his unexpected disappearance connected to the current situation?

A good read, it was hard to put down. Unfortunately it had not been proof read very well. there were grammatical and spelling errors everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of intriguing puzzles 26 Mar 2014

Another satisfying and enjoyable read in the Elizabeth Jewell series.

Jacob Morven comes to England to give lectures on Canadian First Nations culture and history. Thousands of miles from home, he finds himself the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Morven is a fascinating character. On the surface he appears to be a very spiritual person with telepathic powers and a most unlikely killer but darker aspects of his personality emerge as the investigation progresses. Could he really have murdered some one over a mask with a dubious provenance?

Jewell's new boss, Liam Yeats, who is convinced Morven is guilty, also seems to have something to hide. Added to this Chief Superintendent Daly has mysteriously vanished and Elizabeth, in spite of her best efforts, is finding it impossible to discover why.

In this third book, the author has presented the reader with not just one mystery, but several. The pace never lets up as Elizabeth runs into one brick wall after another trying to solve these enigmas.

I heartily recommend this book.
