This book is a simplistic book for those young children who are interested in sports, especially baseball. I, as a teacher, used this book for my young men who were not interested in the other available reading material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rudy Gets Lucky 20 Aug. 2014
By Marvin P. Ferguson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
It's all in the catcher's mask. Rudy is having a hard time catching baseballs behind home plate. He attributes his failures to an old catcher's mask. But when he gets another one at a yard sale (garage sale), and thinking by the initials labeled inside, Y.B., for Yogi Bera, Hall of Fame, New York Yankee catcher, his luck begins to change. Wow! I wish I were so lucky.
Once again, Matt Christopher, gives kids of all ages an exciting baseball story with lots of play-by-play action. I love to watch a baseball player scramble for a bunt, or watch a fast ball travel around the infield. It would be hard for me to put this book down until I read the last page.
Yes! Luck is suddenly on Rudy's side. My grandson loves this baseball story. I strongly recommend it for all kids, give it five stars, and I'm Marvin P. Ferguson, author of BOYS ON THE GOLD COAST.
4.0 out of 5 stars VERY EASY, but positive 14 Sept. 2010
By M. Heiss - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
We haven't had much luck with some of the other baseball books we have tried this year. The Peach Street Mudders series is upbeat and positive, but a bit too easy.

"The Catcher's Mask" has Rudy finding a catcher's mask at a garage sale -- one with the initials YB on it. Yogi Berra? He reads up on Yogi and his game improves dramatically as he learns how important the catcher is to the team.

60 pages, this is a good series for after step readers. No bad language, positive role models, boys finding inner strength and courage.

Not bad.
