A must! 29 Oct 2010
By Flouche
Format:Paperback
Watching Alton Brown on the Uk foodnetwork visit the Lodge factory I decided that I should - just like the old settlers did - own a cast iron skillet. The skillet is wonderful (to say at least) but comes without any instructions or get started brochure. This book is almost a MUST for anyone buying their first Lodge cookware. Every page has a wonderful recipee. Upon receiving the book I got started immediately and as a result, eventhough we only had pan and book since a few days, they have both become unmissable. I noticed the author has two more books which I have no doubt will be a treat as well...

I cook very occasionally, but my wife, who does most of the cooking, had been going on about having a decent cast iron griddle to cook various items on, especially Welsh Cakes.
I remembered that my Nan used a cast iron frying pan which was at least 20" diameter and had a double handle so that two hands could be used to lift it, as it was so heavy, but it produced fantastic Welsh Cakes. This item, although somewhat smaller than the former, has proved to be as successful, and the products are delicious.
