This shall be a review of the CD version of the 'KISS The Casablanca Singles, 1974-1982' boxset.

I bought this boxset (at the time of writing this, anyhow) just on Friday and, all things considered, I have to say it is utterly brilliant and just incredible value for money. Basically, within the set, you get all 29 original U.S. singles released by KISS during their time at Casablanca Records. 26 of these singles feature picture sleeves from around the world, many of which are considered collector's items, so there you go.

The strange thing is that, with the picture sleeves, I count 11 of the 26 are German. On a purely personal note, I much prefered the Japanese sleeves for the simple reason that they contained the lyrics to the A side songs on the back cover. Just my opinion there, frankly.

However, despite the above, with the 4 solo singles from 1978, you get 4 separate masks for each KISS character included with the singles; they appear as a pullout poster and they are really cool.

Lastly, I just want to point out that the audio quality of each CD is just brilliant stuff. It has been a long time since I was last so impressed by a boxset of this calibre. Staying with this, I would easily cite the quality of the remastering as being totally worth the money alone. Furthermore, the box itself is really something else. Basically, the 29 CDs come in a leather box with the KISS logo engraved with an orange glow. The box also has a metal plate that reads, 'The Casablanca Singles 1974-1982 Limited Edition'. Ultimately, it is simply brilliant stuff indeed.

So, to conclude, the 'KISS Casablanca Singles' boxset is really brilliant stuff. I cannot recommend it enough.

I was overwhelmed by the Kiss single-box-set. The re-produced records are really great. Especially the 4 singles taken from the solo albums (originally released in the UK) with "masks" and in coloured wax. I hope, Kiss will re-release more of the classic singles from the 70s and 80s. Very interesting is the edit version of "Detroit Rock City" (2:57 minutes), released in Germany 1976. It's a must have for every Kiss fan.

Dreams do come true... 12 Dec 2012
By Bryan Coates - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I've dreamt that one day KISS would do just this: compile all the Casablanca singles into one set.
The edits/different mixes are a must-have for the KISS fanatic. The only thing missing that I would have liked are the Japanese Talk To Me/Easy As It Seems single,I/Only You single,The Oath/Escape From The Island single & I'm A Legend Tonight/Love Gun(remix)single. I'm aware that they are only compiling the North American release singles & not ones exclusive to other countries. It just would've been even greater with the addition of these as well!
Overall, excellent packaging with attention to detail. An amazing addition to a KISS fanatic's collection...

For fans and collectors 22 Feb 2013

If you are a KISS fan or a KISS collector, buy it, the package is great the box is beautiful, no new songs, some different versions, but I recommend that this is for fans only, I as a fan really loved it, there are some fans that have turned bitter against the band, but KISS has always been Gene and Paul really, but still this is great for collectors.

This box set offers us old-school fans the opportunity to acquire those special single versions of songs we only had on vinyl or maybe could never acquire due to them being foreign versions.

Fast delivery from the US of A to the UK too - full credit!

Must Have For Any KISS Fan 3 Mar 2013
By 1111976 - Published on Amazon.com

There are several songs that are remixed and edited for radio or other reasons. I actually have all the remixes on their original 45 RPM's from back in the day so I bought the CD version for the quality sound for transfer to my ipod. DRC, Dr Love and Strutter 78 make it all worth it but check out See you in your Dreams from Gene's solo or Dirty Livin. They are different. Hard Times has a different ending. Shout it out loud fades out at the end. The singles are sometime far more interesting then their album counterparts. Getting the masks was cool, reminded me of the posters in the solo albums or the Love Gun "BANG" insert. Felt like getting a KISS album from the good ol days. I have been waiting for this set for a long time. If you love KISS it is a must have collection. It's all KISS, back when it really was KISS. No Tomfoolery here. The picture sleeves are awesome too. I give it 1111976 thumbs up.
