A global workforce. Billions in sales. But, unlike Tesco or BP, few have heard of it.

The Cartel is Britain's biggest drugs organisation: a shadowy network stretching from the freezing, fog-banks of the Mersey to the glittering marinas of Marbella, from the coffee shops of Amsterdam to the trading floors of Canary Wharf, run by godfathers as rich as Branson but kept in line by a new generation of teenage killers.

This is the inside story of The Cartel.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Cartel 1 Nov 2012

There was no real skeleton to this story, it meandered all over the place. It really consisted of "he said this" and "he did that" there was a lack of continuity. Some of the chapters were interesting but the story lacked depth and background on how things happened. No effort seemed to be made other than reporting what someone said. It was a disappointing read. The books referred to in this book for background were not available or indeed listed on any library database or on the internet.

I think that this was straightforward telling of something that started in Liverpool and spread throughout europe
It's a tale of the people who started dealing drugs and the people they became through their involvement in this
Awful trade Johnson obviously knows his stuff and tells the story as it is without resorting to any glamourising
All in all a story well told

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent overview 30 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great insight into the Liverpool drug trade. Anyone reading the Echo will see there's a different gang locked up every week, and those with a keen eye will pick up on the links back to some of the big names in this book. In fact google and the Liverpool Echo allow you to get a bit more detail into some of the events discussed.

Not up to date - maybe being too current may compromise people or things - so another installment needed - but a fascinating tale.
