THE BEATLES "THE CAPITOL ALBUMS VOL. 2" includes the four albums released by Capitol Records in 1965: The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Help! (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) & the American version of Rubber Soul. All tracks have been digitally remastered and are presented in both Stereo and Mono. Many tracks appear in stereo for the very first time on CD. Special packaging includes original album cover artwork and a 60-page collector’s booklet with rare photos.

Format:Audio CD
If you're a Beatles fan then you'll already have all the tracks available on this boxset. This is the first time these American albums have been available on CD. Every CD includes both the mono and stereo versions of the albums, which is a nice touch.
As I'd got the UK versions anyway, I only bought this for completion.
I don't need to review the music, you all know how good the Beatles are. The packaging is a little disappointing though, the CDs are in card sleeves and housed in a flimsy box. There's an interesting booklet though recounting tales of American Beatlemania, so I shouldn't be too down on the set.
Great for the music, just be careful with the box.

While I agree that the UK versions are and should be the official versions, there are a few reasons why this might appeal to rabid fans. First of all, some songs are appearing for the first time on CD in stereo. Many songs are appearing for the first time on CD in the original George Martin mixes of 1965, rather than the remixes Sir George did in 1987 for the HELP! and Rubber Soul CDs. Many of the songs appear for the first time on CD in mono. And any American ex-patriots living in the UK might like to hear the albums the way they did when they were young.

I was raised with the British versions of the beatles albums. They are tremendous of course. I recently bought the capitol boxes (Vol.1 and 2) and I was surprised how great the US albums were. Meet the beatles is easily as good as With the beatles, and it's nice to have the track This boy on an album. The Beatles US second album has a great and unique rock'n roll feel to it. The US Help soundtrack is funny and enjoyable, much more a soundtrack album for the better and the worse. The US version of Rubber Soul is more folky and that's good for me. The sequencing of the Early beatles US album is better than on Please please me, with Love me do and Twist and shout as starters.
My advice would be to buy the capitol Vol. 1 and 2, even if you already own the new remastered box of the UK albums. It's a fresh listen !
