Beautiful book. Purchased as a gift for a kayaking brother-in-law, a new hobby in his late fifties!

5.0 out of 5 stars the canoe: a living tradition 9 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
A superb piece of work; comprehensive and beautifully illustrated coverage of the huge range of North American canoe types. Good combination of history, construction, and use. Very good contributors writing about each type.
But nothing on modern Canadian Canoes, of traditional and modern construction methods, and their makers, but this is readily available.
Surprisingly low price, without the prohibitive mail cost from Canada.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull 23 July 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is great. Wonderfull pictures about the bark canoes from all over North America and some other places in the world. The book is not about how to paddle, but the rich past of the bark canoes.
