Product Description

Book Description

The Cambridge Diet has developed from its origins as a Very Low Caloire Diet and is now used in more than 20 countries. This is the new, updated 20th Anniversary Edition

From the Author

I wrote the original Cambridge Diet book back in 1985. The Diet was developed following more than eight years extensive research at the University of Cambridge and the West Middlesex and Addenbrookes Hospitals in the 1970’s.

I have comprehensively updated & redesigned the book but it still contains much of my original story about how the Diet works and how & why it was developed.

It has been wonderful to come back 20 years after writing the original and have a chance to fully update the book because so much has happened in the meantime.

There is much more evidence now of the benefits of Very Low Calorie Diets and of course millions of people around the world have safely and successfully used the Diet.

New additions to the text include an in-depth look at the nutritional make up of the Diet, a detailed history of what happened after the original book was published running right up to the present day and a number of inspiring personal stories of people who successfully lost weight using Cambridge. It also includes a number of calorie-controlled recipes designed to complement the Cambridge programmes.

The new edition 5 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I was given a copy of the 2004 Cambridge Diet book for Christmas. It was only after reading the book that I realised that this was an updated copy of a book that came out in the 1980s. I found it very interesting and as someone who is constantly battling to lose weight, quite inspirational. Dr Howard was certainly way ahead of his time and I was amazed at the amount of research that went into creating his so called 'Perfect Diet'.

As I haven't seen one of the original versions of the book it is difficult to know what the differences are. Certainly the stories about real people who have lost the weight using the diet was interesting and I image not in the original?

But be warned this isn't an Atkins style book. You can't 'do the diet' by following the advice on the pages. To go on the Cambridge Diet you have to contact a local counsellor who supplies you with the diet and apparently helps you along the way.

The book is really a history of why and how the diet was created with some interesting nutritional information and an extensive Q&A section. I would certainly say it is worth a read for anybody who is interested in losing weight.

I have just started the Cambridge Diet - it was a good idea to read this book first. The book is not the diet ie to access the food suppliments etc you will need to go via a Cambridge diet counsellor. However the book describes how the diet works, what to expect, research details etc.

Good luck if you try it.

The Cambridge Diet 5 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
My seller's feedback on this book erroneously made reference to the book's content, raather than the service provided by the selleer - which I must say was excellent. However, I had been expecting a set of diet recommendations and was surprised when I found it to be descriptive in content. In that respect it was very good.
