Product Description

Read Lord Sugar's CV, with its extracts from his bestselling autobiography What You See is What You Get, and discover what it takes to make a true entrepreneur.

Alan Sugar was born in 1947 and brought up on a council estate in Clapton, in Hackney. He started spotting money-making opportunities as a kid, engaging in activities as diverse as selling surplus 35mm film to schoolmates (undercutting the photographic shops by 50%) and making and selling his own ginger beer. At the age of nineteen he set up his own company; through his CV we see how Amstrad's groundbreaking ventures in hi-fi and computers made him the darling of the stock exchange. The breadth of his experiences is apparent, from buying Tottenham Hotspur FC and exposing corruption in the football industry to starring in the BAFTA-winning television show The Apprentice; from his appointment as Enterprise Champion, advising the government on small business and enterprise, to his elevation to the peerage.

By Jack Percival TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This short Kindle book is split into two distinct sections, the first being a blow by blow account of Alan's "CV" laid out in a typical style format and the second some excepts from his biography What You See Is What You Get it acts as an extended preview of the latter. Well put together and cleverly formatted at no cost this is certainly an interesting insight into the mind of one of Britain's most successful entrepreneurs and his rise to fortune, fame and "The Apprentice".

Don't expect from this book a detailed autobiography, this exists partly to sell that, itself a clever business move. Do however fight a shortened version and some sense of what it might contain and something which is on its own still an interesting book. Short too the point but some would consider too concise, at the current price definitely worth a read.

This was an OK read. 20 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Downloaded this for free and yes, it's an excerpt from his biography. It doesn't actually pretend to be anything else does it? (I cannot understand someone downloading something where they have not read the blurb or any of the reviews and then giving it one star because it's not what they thought it was! Duh!)

What I liked about this excerpt (and The Little Fork Diet) is that I could hear Alan Sugar as I was reading it. Made me smile.

Fascinating insight 11 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This book may be an excerpt of his Autobiography, but it still provided a fascinating glimpse into his early life, his approach to buying/selling and to making money. It really made me want to read the full version. A recommended read.

Good little read
While yes, it may be an extended advert for his full autobiography, it's a very good little read, and gives a good short introduction into how he "made it" from the beginning. Read more
