I am currently a student teacher on a CELTA course. I bought the book to aid my course. It has covered almost everything we have done in the classroom so far. It is a valuable book as it does prepare you for what to expect in the classroom. It certainly would be an advantage to purchase this book prior to commencing a CELTA course. I should say that I am disappointed it doesn't provide typical answers to the questions and it doesn't provide much information on the assignments.

I am planning to take this course in the coming months and needed a starting point for a bit of "pre-study". Whilst the text is designed to support the actual course, I have found it to be a great starting point for gaining some background knowledge, my aims being (a) to kick-start my study, and (b) to have some base knowledge to ensure that I get as much as I can from the actual course.

This is a very good companion for anybody learning to teach English, as well as a reference book for practising teachers as it is small enough to carry around on a daily basis. This book is packed with information about teaching strategies, learning a second language, presenting grammar, professional development, planning lessons, in fact every aspect of teaching English as well as advice on written assignments for the CELTA course. I only wish I'd bought this book when I did my CELTA course! It would've put everything more into perspective. I highly recommend this book!
