This is a really cool release, you have to be a fan to really appreciate the difference that the bands have made to each others songs.Rancid has done their best to turn the usually clipped, well recorded tracks sound more like their own style of playing, and the same can be said for nofx's offerings.highlights on this lp are 'moron bros', matts playing is just really great for this song, as well as 'the brews', which rancid could well have written themselves.'radio' is an amazing song, some people think it has been ruined, but its quite weird how well tims lyrics suit the reggae format.'im the one' is a great cover also..i reckon this is worth checking out simply because of the quality of the two bands envolved..

When i first heard about this split, i was dubious as to how well it would actauly work. The great news is, most of it does! Somehow, Rancid manage to make the NOFX tracks sound even better, and vice versa. This is especialy true of Rancids cover of Dont Call Me White, which sounds way better with Mat Freeman singin and also NOFX doin Antennas. Antennas was good when Rancid did it, but the NOFX version somehow faster, clearer and generally better than the original.
Unfortunatly, it does have its dodgy moments. Moron Brothers is a bit crappy as is Bob, but hey, any fan of Rancid and/or NOFX should be able to live with this. At first i thought NOFX all wanted slapping for what they did to Radio, but it grows on you, as does NOFX's Corozon de Oro. Fanbloobytastic punkness from two of the greats!

Ah, the split LP, a punk tradition if there ever was one, and its about time 2 of the biggest American punk bands got their collective heads together and created a record that will give people something to talk about, but does it work? Well, the answer is a solid "yes", but its not without its flaws:-

Rancid is quite frankly, perfect, turning the usually varied NOFX songs into straightforward readings of pure punk bliss, the best example of this is in "Bob" (strange really that Tim sung this one dispite its lyrical content), there ain't no trumpets in their version, no no no, just a beautful guitar squall. Rancid couldn't have done a better job.

Rancid Highlights - "Sticking In My Eye", "Bob" and "The Brews"

The same can't be said for NOFX, 4 of their 6 covered songs are quite good, very good in fact, but they lose marks for their quite frankly mis-timed version of "Olympia WA" (i'm sorry, but the music arrangement sounds rushed and not well done) and that God-awful reggae remake of "Radio" (an idea that should have stayed an idea), however, "I'm The One" (with its almost James Hetfield like 'hey hey hey') and the faster remake of "Corozon De Oro" make the NOFX side worth listening to over and over again.

NOFX Highlights - "I'm The One", "Antennaes" and "Corozon De Oro"

Overall if your a fan of both bands you shouldn't be disappointed, though admittingly you'll probably be going back to originals once the novelty has worn off.
