Book Description

The Business Plan Workbook has established itself as the essential guide to business planning for students and entrepreneurs alike. Drawing on the experience, knowledge and expertise of the Enterprise Faculty within Cranfield School of Management, it brings together the processes and procedures required to write a business plan. With an emphasis on practicality, it contains 20 assignments with several worksheets and examples from the business plans of sucessful entrepreneurs. Cranfield has developed and tested this method of helping people to research and validate their business ideas, and then to write up a plan themselves, so the book itself is based on sound principles. Without a business plan, no bank or venture capital house will consider a loan for start-up or expansion, and the workbook contains the criticisms, warnings and experiences of investors as well as successful entrepreneurs. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The cover claims to contain assignments to help you construct the plan. Instead the book gives general business assignments including writing flyers and how to do basic book keeping. Actually putting a business plan document together is eventually covered in the last chapter over 10 pages and consists mainly of an example table of contents and the advice to wear a suit to present to investors. Not what I expected from the cover!

This book is good for its intended purpose of working through the process of producing a Business Plan, but it turns out to be a bonus in many more ways. The main bonus is the process itself which makes you look properly at your business on the way to making a final Business Plan. It is this process which gives you ideas and tactics which will change your business and the way you run it, even if you never go all the way and create the Business Plan. Make the most of it and see how good your business ideas really are by applying some of the questions raised by the various chapters in this book. A bonus all round in my opinion.

I was asked to find an 'English language version of this book that has been used as a primer in other countries including Germany. Amazon provided the connection and the book was available at the absolute bargain price of one penny. The book arrived in good condition without marks, tears, or notes in margins. My edition is a 2004 reprint and the only indication of age is a slight yellowing which has no adverse effect on the book's readability. I commend the seller for the speedy service and for an extremely attractive price.

This is one those all time classics.
It's easy to digest, broken down into small manageable sections, uses language that I guess most people will find easy to comprehend and it does so in a style that makes this feel really light reading.
I have the 6th edition and find myself refering to it over and over again. Perhaps one of the best books I have in my collection on this subject.
Oh, most of my students love it too!

This book takes you through a series of activities, at the end of which you have the material to write up your business plan. It breaks down a daunting task into manageable stages. Plenty of interesting examples along the way.
