—Sivasailam "Thiagi" Thiagarajan, The Thiagi Group

"Consulting is the art and science of creating solutions! Elaine Biech′s The Business of Consulting is a valuable handbook to the field, the practice, and the logistics of the world of consulting. The second edition is even better!"

"The extraordinary quality of this book is that it is a primer for the person entering into the consulting world while at the same time it is replete with practical wisdom for the most seasoned professional. Consulting is an occupation with much mystery surrounding it. Biech eliminates that mystery by shining the light of her experience onto the practical activities that make consultants succeed. What a gift!"

When I bought this book there were no reviews other than the writer herself. Today it is good to see how many people did enjoy this book. I think I got a good impression of the consulting business: really I could feel how I would be running such thing. I do not think that it fits me now in view of my other immediate opportunities but maybe at a late stage in my career I will give this a chance.

While this book is well written and informative, i want to remind you that it was written in 1998!! there is a floppy disk at the back of the book!! Who even still has a floopy disk port to use it in?

Anyways, since i bought this book because i want to enter into the world of consulting, im not up to date on new technologies/systems/rules to the game which may have come into place in the past 12 years. But since its such a big gap and technology has influenced alot, and im assuming also the consulting industry (IT consulting anyone?) has changed significantly.

I recommend to get a more up-to-date book!
