I'm really enthusiastic about this book. I take it to work with me every day and do the work outs in my office. There's an exercise level in the book suitable for everyone, no matter where you are with your fitness. The exercise science behind it is sound - check out Interval Training and EPOC on the interwebs. We sit more than we sleep - and they say that all that sitting is bad, bad health, bad backs, lousy circulation, swollen ankles and feet. This program fights all those problems. The log in the back is terrific for keeping score and everybody knows you have to keep score to win. Check out Sean Foy on Facebook too - Everybody can use a good coach. I'm training for knee replacement surgery. The healthier I am going in, the better rehab will go. My doc and my physical therapist are almost as enthusiastic about this training program as I am.

Good book. Very innovative ways to increase heart rate--particularly the manner in which it starts out gently but very effectively. Would be good for the beginning exerciser as well as the older exerciser who may not be running much anymore but wants to stay active. Also good ideas for building strength.

I started using Burst when it was introduced at a Wellness Council of America conference last March. I brought the information back to share with worksites I mentor in worksite wellness programs. Employees I work with love the concept and use it. I also began doing some burst here and there along with my walking or other workouts, but then in September I got serious and decided to stick to just burst workouts to see how well it would work for me. I also used light weights with some burst moves at times and my yoga stretches for cool-downs. I weighed myself (which I don't do very often) in early October. I had my physical in late November. Of course, the first thing they do is put you on the scale which freaks me out sometimes. But to my surprise, I was down four pounds! I could tell by my pants I was losing some inches, but did not know how much.All I did those weeks was 10 minutes of burst 2-3 times per day. I would do it at home, in my cubicle or a conference room. I would put the head phones on at my desk and maybe one workout would be walking in place for two minutes and then a light jog in place for one. Or I would dance, but bursting - burst dancing! Ten minutes goes by pretty fast. The beautiful thing about bursting is that you can do any movements you want - first slow then speed up, then slow, etc. I am a small women and in my early 60's so it gets harder to keep the weight off. I have done various workouts all my life, but burst is for me now! I did not overeat, but had a treat here and there. Just because burst works doesn't mean healthy portion control goes out the window. In fact, when I burst, I eat better! Thank you, Sean for making workouts easy for working people who have busy lives!.
