Product Description

Readers of “Imhotep” will find themselves transported once more to ancient Egypt with Imhotep, King Djoser, Meryt, Hetephernebti and other familiar characters in this second novel about the famous architect of the Step Pyramid.

“The Buried Pyramid” begins as the Second Dynasty of ancient Egypt comes crashing to an end with the assassination of King Kha-Sekhemwy, the forced marriage of his daughter to the king's assassin, and the disappearance of Prince Djoser, rightful heir to the throne. The second half of the novel picks up the story thirty years later as Imhotep takes desperate measure to save his daughter's life and triggers a series of tragedies that changes the face of ancient Egypt.

“The Buried Pyramid” is both a prequel and a sequel to “Imhotep,” the first of a tetralogy. The third novel, “The Forest of Myrrh,” continues the story of Imhotep as the Third Dynasty begins to fall. "The Field of Reeds," the fourth and final book of the series, is scheduled for release in 2015.

More About the Author

Now an enthusiastically homeless vagabond, Jerry Dubs has published five novels, the most recent being "The Forest of Myrrh," the third novel in a planned four-book series about Imhotep.

In late 2012, he and his wife sold or gave away all of their furniture, books, records, CD, DVDs, winter clothing, knick-knacks and television. Everything they own now fits into their Honda Civic. They are wandering the southeast in search of warm weather and well-kept tennis courts. You can peek in on their meandering life at

He has written five novels. "Imhotep" is a time-travel romance that transports three Americans to ancient Egypt. "The Buried Pyramid" provides a setting for "Imhotep" and also continues the story of the main character. "The Forest of Myrrh" continues the story of Imhotep, taking him to a new era of ancient Egypt. "The Earth Is My Witness" is a multi-layered mystery flavored with a dash of Buddhism and Existentialism. "Kaleidoscope" is a (almost) murder mystery that bounces between parallel universes.

He is working on a fourth, and final, novel set in ancient Egypt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic work 24 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the characters, the humour and the plot, and this work is very well researched and credible. The aothor is maturing, this sequal flows better than the original without losing it's charm. Light hearted and fun, with a dark side and twist- or two!

I had the pleasure of reading Jerry Dubs first book Imhotep and was delighted to find this book. It was just as good as the first. Congratulations Jerry, as a scribbler I know how difficult it is to produce a second book as good as the first . I wish you a lot of success and look forward to book three

1.0 out of 5 stars One book too many 8 July 2014

Struggled through first book in series but not this I'm afraid. Whole concept of modern day man landing in middle of ancient Egypt is bizarre to say the least and has to be written a whole lot better than this to be convincing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting mix of the past & the present. 8 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is a must read for those who are captivated by the Egyptian era. The way the past is worked cleverly into the present at a perfect moment is entirely plausible. I really was drawn into this story & found it hard to put down. Ive spent a lot of time on the west bank of Luxor & its like stepping back in time many of the old ways are still in evidence now: traditional ways of working,medicine,make-up & life style still prevail. I could feel this in the story. A great book!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Splendid Sequel
Articulate and fluent, the story is well conceived and, despite time shifts, maintains a logical progression. This tale of Imhotep is thoroughly engrossing and most enjoyable.
