5.0 out of 5 stars HIS BEST BOOK YET! 8 Sep 2001
Format:Paperback
Allie Roon, Billy the Kidney and Mazzo are all seriously ill and on the brink of death in a centre where 'the handyman' does tests on them using groundbreaking technology. Barney Smow is the only 'normal' person there... or so he thinks... The Bumblebee flies anyway is one of Cormier's best works, with twists and turns until the bumblebee's flight in the last chapter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable and realistic 22 July 2003
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
The Bumblebee Flies Anyway by Robert Cormier is a children’s novel involving mature themes of death, freedom and control. The story centres around Barney Snow and his experiences and the people he meets at the “Complex”. He has been sent to a specific “laboratory” clinic for tests because he and most of the others there are dying. He realises they are all trapped by their illnesses and crave freedom or release even only for a minute. The Bumblebee is the key.
This is an unforgettable novel with realistic characters and consistently strong themes throughout. Highly recommended, especially to fans of Cormier’s other works.
