The Budapest File is a very unusual book. It is elegant and stark by turns, deeply formal yet deeply human. It's the collecting together of some thirty years writing around a theme, which is vividly yet somehow ghostly visual. The long poems are Szirtes at his best, like long weird journeys into the pretty dark heart of humankind. Well worth reading.
