Product Description

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 0 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), SPECIAL FEATURES: Cast/Crew Interview(s), Documentary, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: When two enemy pilots shoot each other down over Ireland they are both captured as prisoners of war. During World War II Neutral Ireland interned all soldiers, sailors and airmen, regardless of their nationality, captured on Irish soil. What they failed to mention was that they would put them all in the same camp... Our pilots (Bill Campbell) and Rudi (Angus MacFayden) are astonished to come face to face with each other at the entrance of the interment camp. Further surprises are in store as they discover that Commandant O'Brien (Gabriel Byrne) allows the prisoners out on day passes. They can enjoy a drink in the pub or a day out to the races as long as they give their word they won't escape. Tensions are already rife in this extraordinary camp but when a stunning girl catches the eye of both men nothing contain their mutual distrust and hatred; but Mattie (Jean Butler) has a profound effect on these arch rivals and forces them to confront their perceptions of what an enemy really is. Based on real-life events and situations, The Brylcreem Boys brings an unusual chapter in Irish history into the present with a highly enjoyable mix of romance, humour and adventure. ...The Brylcreem Boys

The Brylcreem Boys 3 May 2010
Format:DVD
My wife and I throughly enjoyed this film, the film was portrayed as a mixture of romance and humour and we were extremely entertained by the whole performance. Our Son found the film a little on the slow side, but he is used to the big time action films so to a degree on another wave length, (Plus of course the plot was for prisoners of war, so the action expectation bit would be some what subdued, never-the-less there was some good action albeit more of the typical day to day life of big boys falling out with one another (over a girl etc.) rather than military engagements).

We have seen so many WW2 films over time and subsequently have a sound appreciation of a film cut above the rest!

The scenery is awsome as the Emerald Isles indeed are, and the plot is good (different) the acting was excellent and the whole movie was well put together.

Will we watch the film again, absolutely you can bet on that one.

Cheers
Gerry Carter

very simple but enjoyable film,a lot of good acting, funny, sad, dramatic, beautifully filmed based on a true story. It is well cast and had a serious story to tell about futility of war,I really enjoyed the way it drew you in to that time in history and it is also a good film for women to watch.

What an incredibly funny, touching and heartwarming film. I had no idea that this happened during the war - and had to check to make sure it was a true story. Absolutely brilliant.
