This is an amazing collection of movies and I heartily recommend it to everyone, whose familiar with Bruce and those who've yet to see any of his films.

For the unfamiliar Bruce Campbell is a B-Movie superstar famous for his movie appearences in one time banned in the UK Evil Dead Trilogy [DVD] [1981], who also voice acted the video games Evil Dead -Hail to the King and Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick, performed cameo appearences as door men in the spiderman films Spider-Man Trilogy [DVD] [2002] and authored a couple of bios If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Actor, Make Love! the Bruce Campbell Way.

Collected here are the mainstream hit Bubba Ho-Tep, a horror adventure about a retirement home of identity crisis/challenged residents who have to fight a soul sucking ancient mummy, The Man With The Screaming Brain, which is a mad science B-Movie romp, Alien Apocalypse, which is an awful CGI alien flick, and My Name Is Bruce, a funny Three Amigos [DVD] [1987] style self-parody of Bruce, his movies and B-Movies altogether.

Without a doubt the best film is Bubba Ho-Tep, the next best is toss up between My Name is Bruce and The Man With The Screaming Brain which are both hilarious and exhibit the same shoestring budget, low on effects and high on laughs being the hallmarks of Campbells movies. Alien Apocalypse is the rotten apple of the collection, watchable but not nearly as entertaining as the other films and sort of simply ends, either the money or the ideas having run out.

The Man With The Screaming brain will appeal to fans of Borat I suspect, featuring some post-Cold War East Meets West humour and a hilarious accompanying rap which is almost worth the purchase all by itself. So far as mad science goes they dont get much madder, featuring brain transplants, robots and cyborgs.

Alien Apocalypse is an earth men versus an invasion of alien insects, this is CGI and plastic monster death, the gags are funny, there are cliches aplenty and I suspect any fan of archery is going to absolutely love it as Bruce goes all Robin Hood to rescue the remaining humans. While the plots interesting, though simple, it gets exhausted pretty quickly and the film, quite literally, goes no where at all after that.

Bubba Ho-Tep is a great movie, Bruce quips in My Name Is Bruce that "Everyone Liked Bubba Ho-Tep", which is true, in no small part because besides the stock and trade gags, japes, jokes and cliches there's also some straight acting here about the indignations of aging. I think this movie proved that Campbell can act as much as clown around.

A great place to begin if you're unfamiliar with Campbell at all but an essential for fans of his work. Laughing all the way.

Groovy! 8 Sep 2009
By Barry
Yes,yes,I can fully understand why some, even many people would balk at the idea of a Bruce Campbell box set.He hasn't set the world on fire with his choice of roles over the years(Mindwarp,Assault on Dome 4 and the spectacularly woefull Icebreaker, all of which I own). However, our Bruce has something.Pop,pizazz, the x-factor,whatever it is it works. From Ash in the Evil Dead series to Elvis in Bubba Ho Tep,Bruce Campbell is always the best thing in his movies. If you're a fan, like me,then here is 8 hours of pure escapism. My Name is Bruce is basically an homage to Campbells career so far, with so many nods to his previous work it's hard to keep up,coupled with his ability to laugh at himself and the Hollywood machine.Bubba Ho Tep is by far Campbells best performance ever,a genuinely top notch portrayal of an aged, diseased Elvis Presley, all be it in a bizarre situation,a film that is already a cult classic(as so many of Mr Campbells films are). The Man With The Screaming Brain is fun, original and cheap as Hell! With a great, hammy appearance by fellow B-movie legend Stacey Keach and a ridiculous henchman played by Ted Rami. Finally,Alien Apocalypse,a made for TV movie by the Sci-Fi channel, this is kitcsh all the way, tacky, wooden, awful effects and worse dialogue, trust me it's wonderfull!(also has to recieve the award for the worst fake beards ever in movie history)
Grab a beer,a bag of Dorito's sit back and enjoy.Gimme some sugar baby!

GOOOOOD! 8 Oct 2010
By Stefano
A classic collection everyone have to put in his home! Subtitles (English) are present in "My name is Bruce" and "Bubba Ho-Tep". With subtitles in all the movies we could reach excellence, but nobody's perfect!
