This is a great classic collection of stories and Louisa May Alcott was an amazing author. They don't make classic stories anymore that you can sit and share with you daughters like the ones Alcott wrote. I recommend this to anyone that wants a way of sharing some short story classics with their children during story time before bed.

I must have read the "Brownie and the Princess" story as a youngster because I remembered it as I read along. That was MANY MANY years ago. All of the short stories in this book are easy to read to children and children from about 8 years and up should have very little trouble reading for themselves. I borrowed this book from one of my young students then ended up buying it for my studio so others could read it. What an imagination Miss Alcott had! All the stories are very different and all are equally enjoyable. "Hole in the Wall" is probably my favorite but the one about the dancing silverware is priceless. So descriptive you felt it was all quite possibly happened. This would be an excellent gift for a young reader through teens (and adults who like children's books)
