Product Description

Review

Witty, informative and irresistible ... This is a book where you can pick and mix whatever takes your fancy and be guaranteed a rewarding read (Daily Mail (Book of the Week))

Is it funny as well as practical? Of course... Among the lovely breakfast recipes from around the world, the book has surreal interludes such as the page dedicated to a dream Freud once had about a breakfast ship... We say: Seb is to breakfast what Brian Cox is to space (Observer)

Bring some serious joy to the most important meal of the day with this new book of recipes, tips, essays and musings (Independent)

Delightfully unorthodox (Daily Mail)

Sizzling-in-the-pan treat ... Glorious greet-the-day recipes ... In a word: eggshaustive (Mail on Sunday)

This attractively produced book is deceptively ambitious in scope ... A cheery homage to an oft-neglected meal (Times Literary Supplement)

A neat solution ... A Cross between a recipe book and Schott's Miscellany ... Crucially, it has a sense of humour, which is not something you get from your average cook book (Independent)

Riveting sections (The Lady)

This book is one that you will want to repeatedly dive into again and again for inspiration for a meal that is so frequently overlooked (Caterer and Hotelkeeper)

This witty celebration of breakfast foods from marmalade to the Full English is my cookbook of the year so far (Sunday Telegraph)

Beautifully and wittily written (Literary Review)

If you're looking for suggestions to brighten up your weekend brekkies, then this is the book for you. It gives alternatives to the norm, as well as the tried & tested. If anything, the authors try a little too hard to make it amusing, when they could have added a few more recipes from around the globe.

Strange as it is to say a very thought provoking introduction! Bought as a gift for mothers day (my mum is an award winning bed and breakfast owner) I couldn't resist a quick read! Enjoyable and inspiring, easy to get into and encouraging!

The authors say this is the first recipe book for breakfasts, but spend most of the time discussing the 9 main breakfast ingredients. The methods of cooking are what most of us know and do already. Oh and yes, it gives advice on what the upper classes will and will not eat for breakfast - never back bacon - too common. As to an omelette heaven forbid...

A beautifully produced, highly original, amusing and intellectual book. It is packed with interesting breakfast facts and recipes, making it firstly a very enjoyable read and then a reference cook book. Very happy to own a copy.
