about a stranded little penguin who needs to be brave!
And that added dimension is the plush 'Little Penguin', c 6 cm x 3.5 cm, who has remained securely attached to the back cover keeping him safely in his 'cut-out', and resisted all attempts to remove him! (In fairness, to the more inquisitive - he does give the impression that he may be attached by Velcro!) n.b. The book does carry the 'not suitable for children under 36 months due to potential small parts' warning.
From the back cover:-
'When the adorable Little Penguin finds himself stranded on an island of ice, he knows he has to be brave. Lift the flaps to see who comes to his rescue.
With a cast of appealing characters, this delightful story is a charming introduction to a beautiful landscape and the creatures that live there.'
Endearing cover opens to 10 durable board pages (including inside cover pages) in the popular 2-page spread format, with 5 sturdy lift-the-flap opportunities (one on each double page spread). 'Little Penguin' appears from his `cut-out' ice floe, on each turn of the page!
2 lines of clear text at the top of each page, e.g.:-
'Little Penguin wakes all alone and cries. All he can see is the ice and blue skies.
Then he hears a splash and sees a friend, And hopes his loneliness is at an end....'
Lift the flap to see who is the first to utter those reassuring words:-
'Don't worry, Penguin!'
And so the repeat theme carries on ......but....don't worry.....as the sun goes down on the ice, 'Little Penguin' is reunited with his loving family!
Designed by Gemma Cooper, this book has superb atmospheric illustrations throughout, from Daniel Howarth.
Approx Size: 22.5 cm x 17 cm
Because of the slight protrusion of 'Little Penguin', when the book is closed, I have always displayed this book with the front cover facing out. This gives the impression that 'Little Penguin' is peeking out...another reason why this book is proving so popular, as a first choice in reading corner!Read more ›
