Product Description

THE IRISH TIMES, October 8, 2007

Along with Alexandre Desplat, Marco Beltrami, Ed Shearmur, Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell, Dario Marianelli is part of a new generation of international composers dominating Hollywood. The Italian's impressive scoring slate includes the Oscar-nominated Pride & Prejudice, The Brothers Grimm, V for Vendetta, I Capture The Castle, The Return and, most recently, the wonderful Atonement. His new score for Neil Jordan's thriller The Brave One is signature Marianelli, brimming with intelligence and drama. Merging long melodic lines and insistent polyrhythms with spare orchestration and minimal electronica, The Brave One's dynamic mix of strong themes (heard mostly on piano, guitar and solo violin) and bright colours infuse its overall menacing atmosphere (staccato violins, rumbling basses and jittery percussion) with an astonishing expressiveness and warmth. JOCELYN CLARKE

Album Description

New York radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) has a life that she loves and a fiancé she adores. All of it is taken from her when a brutal attack leaves Erica badly wounded and her fiancé dead.......

The riveting original score for THE BRAVE ONE was composed by the Italian film composer and Academy Award nominee (Pride & Prejudice) Dario Marianelli. He has also composed the soundtracks for The Brothers Grimm (2005) and the original score for Pride & Prejudice for which he received in 2006 an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures.

Sarah McLachlan 17 Sep 2007
By Justin Bing - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The fantastic, bittersweet Sarah McLachlan song featured in the film "The Brave One" is titled "Answer" and can be found on her 2003 album "Afterglow".

Great movie, good music but...... 16 Sep 2007
By P. Savage - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Somehow I thought that a "score" from a movie was the songs sung in various parts of the movie. This CD is great but it is the instrumental portion of the movie and does not include any songs that various artists "sang." It's still very good but I actually wanted the song by Sarah McLachlen, etc., not the "score." So...buyer beware!

You Dont Know Me 22 Sep 2007
By Martin Foyle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This score works very well, though I wish the songs used had been included. My favourite bit was the diner scene towards the end where Elvis Presleys version of You Dont Know Me was used very effectively, indeed it struck me as the most Neil Jordan moment in the whole film.
