Reviews

Screwball comedy starring comedy duo Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball. Sergeant Cannon and PC Ball run the police station in the quiet town of Little Botham. When the station is threatened with closure owing to the exceptionally low local crime rate, the pair undertake to create a crime wave of their own in order to save their jobs.

Loved this film. Its cheap and tacky with basic Cannon & Ball humour and is absolutely wonderful.

Excellent for those wet Sunday afternoons.

The Boys in Blue is a delightful remake of the old Will Hay classic "Ask a Policeman." I've never been a great fan of Cannon and Ball but I must say this is good clean fun. It's filled with the same old jokes from their live shows but nonetheless it works. I can think of nothing better to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon and the kids will love it as well. Highly recommended.

This is truly a fantastic piece of cinematic history! I love it! I've waited for years for this to be released on DVD, and now finally it's here... Words fail me! Fabulous! But it now!

The great Cannon and Ball with their one and only starring film. This is a steal at the price it cost me on Amazon and is a gem for lovers of the cheeky twosome. Class!

Bought this movie because we loved Cannon & Ball and had seen the film before.
Eventually want all the series as well.

Loosly based on the Will Hay classic "ask a policeman", the story revolves around a quiet police station which is threatened with closure due to a lack of crime. In fact, as crime is so absent, the two coppers also find time to run a shop! With pressure mounting from above, the two bunglers decide to invent some crimes and when doing so they stumble upon a real gang of art thieves. This remake retains a twee Britishness about it which is something I find great affection for; the plucky underdogs somehow manage to chase down the criminals and treat us to some trademark slapstick and a bit of wordplay along the way. I enjoy Tommy's lampooning and I particularly like the shear stupidity of the dialigue in the chicken checking scene. Having grown up with the madcap stylings of our two heroes I was really looking forward to this and although it hasn't aged well, I knew what to expect so they didn't disappoint me.

brought as Christmas stocking filler gift for 80 plus relative, old fashioned slap stick humour which I knew they could watch without any offensive scenes.

It did exactly what it claimed to do. All their gags rolled into one film. I really enjoyed it, but it is an acquired taste!
