Book Description

7 April 2011
Once there was a boy named Tim whom no one believed, even when he was telling the truth. No one believed that it was a ninja who snaffled the last slice of cake; or that a giant squid ate his homework; or that it really was a time-travelling monkey who was throwing pencils at Grampa. How can Tim get his parents to believe him - when the truth is too incredible to be true?

The book is good, wonderful drawings, and the story was interesting. It was a gift for my nephew and am unsure how he liked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sooo funny, sooo charming 5 April 2011
By Travis Ann Sherman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
"Once there was a boy named Tim who no one believed. When his mom asked him what happened to the last slice of cake, he told her the truth. "It was a ninja," cried Tim. (Picture of the ninja stealing the cake.)

Tim is beset by other visitors who get him in trouble: an astronaut, a giant squid, a pirate, a sunburned crocodile and a time-traveling monkey, but he figures out a way to resolve his difficulties AND get 100 ice creams from his apologetic parents who had doubted him. This lighthearted tale deals beautifully with the collision we all face between dealing with the reality of the time-traveling monkeys in our lives and the consequences of their too frequent visits. I read it this week to my preschool storyhours and it was a major hit, striking a familiar chord with all us three year olds. The artwork is charming too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Boy Who Cried Wolf turned Upside Down 9 Dec 2011
By Young Mensan BookParade - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The vivid imagination so evident in young children is captured in this picture book that explores the adventures of Tim, a young boy whose excuses for destructive behavior go unbelieved until proven in a stupendous way. The male protagonist and spare illustrations will appeal to boys, and the message that even if no one believes in you, you will triumph in the end is powerful to young gifted readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best use of a sunburned crocodile in a children's book 21 July 2011
By Steven Ettinger - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This book is a great read-aloud story. All of the illustrations are playful and full of color.

I had a great time reading The Boy Who Cried Ninja even before I shared it with a group of kids. Little details like the sunburned crocodile (who later in the story recovers) makes it real genius.
