3.0 out of 5 stars Travolta boogies in the bubble 23 Dec 2007
By Jay
Format:DVD
This tv movie provided a big stepping stone for John Travolta, but its 70s sensibilities provoke more laughter than empathy for the plight of the title character. The "disease of the week" plot makes Glynnis O'Connor into a cruel and easy highschool bimbo, smoking cigarettes and parading about in a bikini. All to the frustration of trapped Travolta, who is desperate for companionship other than that of his dreary parents.

Does anyone still remember that Travolta had a passionate love affair in real life with the actress Diana Hyland, who played his mother here? He was devastated when she died of cancer a few years later. It's riotous fun to see his pre-"Saturday Night Fever" dance steps as he boogies down inside his bubble. It's obvious that he had some training before that other movie!

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY OLD FILM 10 Mar 2012
Format:VHS Tape|Amazon Verified Purchase
As my own life is governed by allergies, this film meant a lot to me. It helped me appreciate what freedom I still have and it's not as far-fetched as it may seem. I can certainly relate to it, although it is very American and sentimental in its way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic 28 Jan 2012
Format:DVD
I purchased this movie as, it I brought it up in a conversation recently. I remembered it from a young teen and loved it back then. It was good to see it again through grown-up eyes, it was not exactly as I recalled but, enjoyable none the less. It is not action packed just, a seventies movie in all respects. John Travolta is young and cute, and very much in his early days of acting. A nice TV movie I would say however, I did not like the small screen size of how the film was shot it was although a simple trip down memory lane. I have not said much about the film itself as I think the title and blurb on Dvd tells it all. Try not to pay much for the film is my main conclusion.
