Product Description

Nigel Botterill had a successful corporate career. Big six figure salary, bonuses, the works. Then, one day in November 2002, a meeting didn’t quite go to plan. He found himself out of a job and, on the way home to tell his wife the news, he took the decision to never be employed ever again. "Botty Rules" is the story of what happened next. How, after several false starts, Nigel has built a multi-million pound business empire from scratch, with five separate brands. This fascinating tale is a roller-coaster ride of what it takes to achieve real entrepreneurial success in 21st century Britain. The story is peppered with Botty Rules--the simple but powerful lessons that Nigel has learned along the way, sometimes painfully, but which collectively are a complete blueprint for success for any business owner or entrepreneur who is serious about making it big in the new economy. Straight-talking, disarmingly honest, and packed with practical tips and help for any business owner. "The Botty Rules" is probably the most useful--and entertaining--business book of the year!

Nigel's book deserves to be a classic. It's a great story of how he built up his five million pound plus businesses but also all of the rules that he uses on a daily/weekly/yearly basis to start and grow these businesses. These rules should be cut out and stuck on the wall beside your computer if you run any form of small or medium sized business.

Nigel's story contains some fascinating insights about working with people like billionaire John Caudwell (phones4u) and his transition towards setting up his first businesses. He is humble enough to go through the mistakes that he made along the way and this is what helps add some real credibility and value to the book. You get to see how he did it as well as learning from the errors he made and hopefully avoiding these yourself.

My pet hate in the small business book market is books written by journalists or people who have experience of setting up one business. These books are usually littered with generalisations and errors and that is a huge disservice to the reader. Alongside his own businesses Nigel now operates a business which advises and helps small business owners. That means Nigel is, week in and week out, dealing with and helping other small business owners with their problems. So Nigel's experience is the absolute antithesis of the usual small business advice author and that's what prompted me to do a video review rather than just throw a few words out there.

Hugely recommended.

This is a must have book for anyone in business today. Written in 'plain English' it's a nice easy read packed full of Aha! moments.

You learn some very valuable lessons by following Nigel Botterill on his journey from setting up his business 5 years ago to now having 5 £million business under his belt!

Reading this book was a great way for me to kick start 2011. Highly recommended!
