5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guidelines 6 Oct 2013
By Amelia Wallace - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
When working in management, you often have to deal with various personalities and difficult people---and you have to deal with them in a professional and effective manner. First, I was totally hooked by the title of this book. Then as I started to read this book, I realized the author knows what he's talking about. He provides some simple but very effective ways to deal with employees without coming across as a jerk of a boss. Being a good boss does positively influence employees, which essentially leads to the overall success of a company.

This book discusses team work and communication, among other important things. If you're struggling to break the "bosshole" cycle this is a great book to read. Or even if you need some guidance in managing people, this book offers some great guidelines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the name BossHole Effect! 3 Oct 2013
By vinisha - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If the name itself does not get your attention then you have been living a wonderful life where you do not have to deal with a boss, unless you are the boss!, in which case you should read the book. I have a very new acquaintance with Mr. Alston, but I knew from our brief conversations that we appreciated the same level of humor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guidelines for life 3 Oct 2013
By Dr Dan Alston - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In full disclosure I have known the authors their whole lives. Greg is my younger brother and my niece Valerie even visited me last year while I was in Kuwait in her capacity as a trainer of master resiliency trainers for the US Army. I have personal knowledge and experience in business both large and small. I owned several dental practices both large and small,I have owned manufacturing and service corporations and I have spent the last few years in the largest company in the world, the US Army. Greg and Valerie hit the nail on the head with this book. Instead of going to the school of hard knocks like we did, read this book and become a great boss/employee/friend/parent/child as it truly applies to living life to the fullest. It is easy to read with practical action steps. Give a copy to anyone whose chance for success you would like to improve

5.0 out of 5 stars Managing For Excellence 25 Sep 2013
By David Richards - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In the interests of full disclosure, I will mention that I have been a personal friend of the author for the past 41 years.
Having worked in a bureaucracy for 36 years, mostly under incompetent management, I can say that this book is essential reading if you are in a management position. Dr. Alston's writing style is succinct and practical. He knows what it takes to succeed, and he shares a lifetime's worth of knowledge here.
And even if you are not in a management position, this book offers invaluable insights on teamwork and cultivating cooperation in the pursuit of excellence.
I highly recommend The Bosshole Effect. It is worth many times its price.
