Format:VHS Tape
Having read the existing lukewarm review, I felt I had to write in to express my huge affection for this video. All my kids adored both Borrowers series - they succumbed from as early as four years old, and still dig it out now they are in their teens. It's rare to have such first class acting in kids TV - as well as the obvious bonus of having Ian Hom, Penelope Wilton and Sian Philips on board, the younger members of the cast are excellent (far less wooden than the over-hyped Harry Potter juveniles), the effects are magical, and the whole thing is bathed in this golden nostalgic glow. Fabulous stuff.

Having watched this both when it originally aired and more recently with my niece and nephews I think The Borrowers is still one of the best Children's adaptations ever made. It has adventure, excitment and romance and most people I know still rate this programme very highly. All I can say is if you haven't seen this, buy it. May be worth waiting until it comes out on DVD though.

The Borrowers are a group of miniature people who live beneath the floor - when they are 'seen' they have to move along, and this is the story of a family who have to uproot themselves from their comfortable surroundings and experience the BIG wide world... Such is the story of the Clock family - the most enjoyable features are the wonderful perspective that the borrowers have of our own human world. It's a story that can be enjoyed by both adults and children, and is amongst my favourite films of ALL TIME.... you won't be disappointed!

The Borrowers - Series 2 [DVD]
I was disappointed in this DVD as it strayed from the books so much. If you are a fan of Mary Norton I would not recommend it. Read more

for me this is the original Borrowers
I liked this series when I was young, and still do as a grownup. Very nice casting, a lot better then the modern hyperactive movies.

This second series of the Borrowers continues the adaptation of books by Mary Norton. This wonderful visualisation originally made in 1993 for the BBC is very good. Read more

Kids love it
I remember this from the days of old (before I was bald) The children love it and it has great nostalgia value too as (unlike me) it has stood the test of time

Fun stuff.
It's fun but not quite as good a story as the other borrower title that we got at the same time.

It was okay, but it should have been left as it was.
The first Borrowers was very well done, it is now quite old, but it was good. The second series doesn't compliment the first, but it wasn't bad as far as children's videos go. Read more
