Jeremy Irons makes a wonderful Pope and his lean looks have you trembling as he almost whispers his plans plots and perversions to all around him. Having made it to the top job he intends to hang on to it by all means possible and his alliances with even his most detested enemies show to what point he will go. However, he is only truly allied to his family and with sons and a daughter, plus wife and mistress as ruthless as he is then the original family of crime are a force to contend with. Excellent...

Series 1 was good, but the bar is raised in this second series.

Jeremy Irons is brilliant - some amazing acting in some ery heavy scenes -especially as the series reaches its climax.

Loved Series 1, and found this even more gripping. Wonderful acting, Can't wait for the next series. Watching this has made me want to research the Italian Renaissance more.

The second season of the borgias in my opinion just helps to advance things and you see in particular the development of the main characters, chiefly Cesare whose desire for life outside the church leads him down a darker path, Lucrezia the more matured mother with new suitors and Juan who descends into all sorts of misery. I felt there was more action this time round what with old faces such as Giovanni Sforza and new faces such as Catherina posing another threat to the papacy. Worth buying as you see the steady progression of both the overriding plot lines and the characters themselves.

I would really recomend this series to anyone, who likes to gain more insight on how life was in the past, but with a twist of entriques, seduction, politics and struggle for power.

... a very good show, quite entertaining, even if it takes a frank turn into pure fiction and discards too much historical details (as I am Italian, I notice all flips and they are piling up alarmingly, some are really excessive). Quite a good acting by most of the characters, and beautiful costumes, that support the poverty of scenography (very scant as a representation of Italian Rinascimento). I look forward to season 3.
